The Stances Toward Education in Multilingual Contexts (STEMCo) project uses an ethnographic approach to observe how school communities deal with diversity in communication at school. The project's objectives are to

  • raise awareness of the effect of teaching on the development of students' skills;

  • contribute to the training of teaching staff who are prepared to recognize and resolve language-related challenges;

  • help teachers reflect on how they welcome linguistic diversity in their classrooms;

  • show how to create new opportunities for participation for newly arrived students;

  • improve the reception of newly arrived students even without using other languages in the classroom.

In addition, it offers teachers a dedicated platform to facilitate reflection on practice, learn from each other, and implement any appropriate adjustments to their teaching. The open access resources on this site are based on data collected during the research phase of the STEMCo Project.
